Cricket Wireless Review – The Cons
Cricket Wireless has a lot of phones but some of them are more expensive than at the traditional cell phone providers like Verizon Wireless or AT&T.
I bought a Blackberry for my husband and saw that I spent a little more on it than Verizon has it advertised for.
After doing some digging, I discovered that Verizon actually loses money on the phones themselves because they know that they’ll sign you to a 24 month contract, making it back in the long run.
Cricket Wireless can’t do that (because there is no contract…). So they basically sell the phone to you for cost. So the price is justified because there isn’t a contract.
Cricket Wireless Review – Payment Options
Because there is no contract with Cricket Wireless, there are a few different ways that you can pay your prepaid cell phone bill.
Cricket Wireless offers customers the option to pay with a credit or debit card. You can make payments by phone with a credit or debit card, but you’ll be charged an additional 2 dollar processing fee to do so. Paying in cash at an authorized payment location for a 3 dollar fee is another option. Payment by mail may be made with check or money order and you can also make payments online through their customer care website.
Nothing too spectactular there… It’s important if you’re shopping for prepaid cell phones though!
Cricket Wireless Review – Data, Text and Picture Messaging
Cricket Wireless offers unlimited text messaging with all plans. Picture messaging is also usually included, but is determined by the plan you choose.
Data Plans are given on monthly plans of 45 dollars or more. That’s unlimited mobile web. PAYgo plans are a little different. With those, you pay per day.
Cricket Wireless Review – Roaming And Calling Features
Roaming minutes cost 25 cents each. Cricket has expanded their nationwide coverage those, so it’s reduced roaming areas considerably.
With Cricket Wireless, you can expect all of your normal calling features (some are dependent on the package you get):

- Call waiting
- Call forwarding
- 3-way calling
- Voicemail

All in all, Cricket Wireless is a pretty rock solid company. I haven’t had any problems with my coverage or plan. My phone did suffer a small mishap (aka. I dropped it in the sink) but they took care of it. I like my plan and its features…
